We call our Volunteers Heroes....and Heroes come in all sizes.
In contrast to movies, the Christian hero is the ordinary person who does what God would have them do in the circumstances in which God places him. When a volunteer sacrificially gives of their time to help repair the homes of those unfortunately stricken by disaster, they become heroes. A hero is someone who can be an example for others. In the midst of the volunteer repair work not only those whose homes are being repaired, but neighbors and entire communities respond to the amazing faith-in-action they witness. Nehemiah’s Vision’s volunteer program is designed to shout out God’s love through the unselfish work of His people. There are two distinct ministry targets with this program. First, to let others see and hear of Christ’s love. Secondly, it’s to let people experience the joy of serving those in need. For those ministered to and those ministering through their volunteer work, the goal is spiritual life change! The unselfish labor performed by the Nehemiah Vision volunteer has had amazing results:
Do you believe God can use you to do extraordinary things? If you have any doubts, take a look at the heroes of the Bible. You’ll find people like Mary, Peter, Esther and Nehemiah–ordinary people who allowed God to work through them in remarkable ways. You may never hear the applause of the action movie hero, but the help needed is real and not fiction. There are many people who desire to move back into their house, people who are looking for help. Looking for… a hero! How will you respond? Student Leaders Student Church Leaders
