Elaine is a single mom; Austin is her 14-year old son.  They had been living out of state, and then just three weeks before the fire Elaine’s parents helped them move back to a place just a few hundred yards from their house.

They were just getting adjusted to life back in Paradise when the fire completely destroyed their home and all their possessions.  Her parents, Douglas and Sandra, also lost their home.

Now Elaine is staying with her sister who lives nearby, while Austin is with her parents in a small camper trailer.
